Welcome to my genealogy site. My name is Shelia and I will be your host during your visit here. I hope your will enjoy your stay half as much as I am presenting this site to you today.

My goal is to build a web site that will be enjoyable as well as educational. I really hate those sites that promote themselves as being something and when you get there, you find you have wasted your time and didn't even enjoy your visit. So, if your here by mistake, click on a link. You just might find that it was worth the trip. The info here is a combination of what me, my mother, grandmother, Aunt Florence (now deceased) and cousins (although distant) have found out recently or already knew about our family history.

You will find old family photos, obituaries dating back to 1933, family trees, and family stories either located on the site now or on their way up.

I have found much of the information about our family tree in the comfort of my own home.(And some said it couldn't be done! LOL) There are many terrific message boards and web sites on the internet which offer a wealth of information.

What have I learned so far? Well, I have come from a long line of preachers, out-laws, farmer's, saw mill owner's and workers, and mechanics. At one time, on my mother's side, the families were very wealthy.

My Claim to Fame? HA! HA! I have two things that come to mind.

  1. My 6th Great Grandfather, William McCauley, and his brother, Mathew McCauley, donated 250 acres for the University of North Carolina.
  2. For better or worse ... Remember John Wesley Hardin (Texas' worst out-law)? ... We are related via my 3rd Great Grandmother, Jane (Dixon) Leach.

Please browse down just a little and sign my guest book and let me know you have been here. I look forward to finding out about the many cousins that our very productive ancestors have brought forth to build such a large tree! 8^)
