Recent Reads

I should really upgrade my Goodreads status. In the recent two years, I have read a number of books. Of course, the more I read, the larger the update list grows thus discouraging me from tackling the task of updating my Goodreads.

There is where one, in current tech age social media identity, shares their recent reading experiences complete with rating and book review. That — reviews, is what halts me from wanting to update my Goodreads list and progress. I cannot imagine adding my review of Austen’s Pride & Prejudice to the 372+K reviews already contributes anything. If, however, I were the first to review a book, then my opinion has sway.

All the same, I like the idea of sharing to others what I have read because especially spreading the gospel for new found great literature. Still to this day I recommend my deserted island favorites, The Secret History by Donna Tarth and Bret Easton Ellis’s American Psycho.

Tonight, my local public library is hosting a Zoom event inviting patrons to share their current reads. For my part, I am mimicking the presentation style of a couple of librarians who participated in a similar showcase event involving a subset of the librarians themselves. I constructed a slideshow for each book I read with a link to the public library system catalogue.

What follows below is the list I shared but, here exclusive, I share titles of re-reads and non-fiction books I read in the past month.
