Remembering Kiyomi

Saturday, December 10, 2016 12:24

The world is a much darker place now.

A relative shared the authority's confirming the Oakland fire claimed another victim, that of my friend Kiyomi Tanouye.

Her infectious ebullient personality joined together many eclectic friends, including some friends I have now I met through Kiyomi e.g. Bobby Lee.

Not only she and I became members of a squadron formed by our participation thru an induction into an urban recreational activity, we remained connected and corresponded given our shared interests. Of all the people that I know, it can truly be said of Kiyomi that she brought sunshine, positive vibes, and effected everyone who knew (of) her. She was amazing, wonderful, brilliant, a joy, the most . . . most, there are no superlatives that can do justice to what she has meant to me and others, suffice I coin a new superlative, and say, she was kiyomi.

A video tribute to a dear friend who was lost, among others, in a tragic accident.

In loving memory of our friend, Kiyomi ‘jenpop’ Tanouye.

There is no hyperbole in saying Kiyomi had touched in a positive way the lives of both who knew her and those who knew of her. To know her was to love her.

She was not the life of the party. She brought the party. She brought  joy to everyone she met.

She will be missed.

She will not be forgotten.

She is not gone.

She is  . . . just  . . . Elsewhere.
