How do I fight the pain that is within?
It clutches at my heart with icy hands.
I try to fight it any way I can.
And any time some joyfulness seeps in,
Then once again this chilling hurt begins.
All my attention this cold now demands
And all throughout my body it expands.
It chills the places where the warmth has been.
So I try to find someone to love,
To cherish and to share the outside sun
And welcome all the warmth to come inside.
I feel a peace descending like a dove
To seep inside, the warming has begun
And all the cold within me has now died.
