Winter Survival Weekend
On February 23-25, 2007, a bunch of scouts went to Kettle Pond to go winter camping. We snowshoed in the first night and slept in lean-tos. It was extremely cold the whole time we were there.
Throughout the whole trip it was below freezing. When we were in the lean-to, we had to put a tarp on the opening so that the wind wouldn't blow in and freeze us to death.
During the second day, the temperature was a little bit better. We had a lot of fun playing Man of the Mountain on a 20 ft tall boulder. After that we made a bunch of
quinzies and slept in them overnight. The quinzies were a lot warmer than the lean-tos though. When we woke up, we went home and warmed up.
