Living In Yesterday.

I was on a real downer when I wrote this one, so don’t read it if you have a touch of the blues. It was my thirty-seventh birthday, and I just felt so old. I don’t know why. It felt as if my life was over. That all the good times were behind me. I felt well and truly past it. Do you ever get the blues, but you aren’t sure why? Baffling isn’t it. Thankfully, in most cases, it doesn’t last long. If you have the blues now, why not tell me about it. Maybe I can help lift your spirits with a personalised poem.

Living in Yesterday.
By Amanda Jay Clark.

I can’t help living in yesterday.
Life was easier then.
I had hopes and dreams for the future,
And looked forward to the day when,
I could look back on my life with pleasure,
And remember every success.
Achieve all my goals and ambitions,
Never settling for less.
I believed I would never know sorrow,
I would never feel worry or fret.
But as I sit here and remember,
I only look back with regret.
So I live in yesterday’s long gone,
Before disappointment set in,
A time when my life was before me,
And I still believed I could win.
So many missed opportunities,
Impossible to recapture.
So I wallow in self-pity,
Instead of living in rapture.
So, please take a tip from a loser.
Grab life with both hands,
And build memories to look back on.
Try travelling to new lands.
Try everything you want to, at least once.
No matter the why, where or when.
And the ones that you find you are good at,
You can do them all over again.
I was once on the right side of thirty,
And thought I had forever to make,
The life I had been busy dreaming about,
Don’t make the same mistake!
Life comes, and is gone in an instant.
Don’t allow what you have to be dull.
Make the most out of every second,
And live your life to the full.
