You Can't Be Permitted To Die

For most of us, there is only ever one person on the planet who we think of, as perfect. And surprisingly, during the research I did for this poem, it’s not our partners. For men, number one on their lists, was their fathers. For women, number one was either an actor, or a singer. Sports stars rated well, too. Do we settle for less when we get married? I have no idea. But very few of us get that perfect someone. Sad, but true. Whoever your idea of the perfect someone is, your number fear for them is, death. You can’t imagine this world without them in it. You even convince yourself that that person will never die, and when they do, it’s hard for you to forgive them. Like you, I get in a panic too when I try and picture the world without my ideal man. So, I say to him, and to all those who you can’t live without, "You can’t be permitted to die!"

You Can’t Be Permitted To Die!
By Amanda Jay Clark.

You’re as cool as a crisp winter morning.
As hot as a mid-August day.
As fresh as a spring rain falling,
The wind that blows autumn leaves away.

You’re yesterdays memories for keeping.
You’re the future to look forward too.
And today’s reason for living,
My whole life is built around you.

You’re a heartbeat away from perfection.
A hair’s breadth away from ideal.
You’re a mystery that’s not meant for solving.
And have way too much sex appeal.

Being loved by you is a privilege,
That fills others with jealousy.
I can’t bear the thought of your body,
Touching someone who isn’t me.

You’re the closest thing to an angel,
That God ever put on the earth.
And it’s been that way my cherub,
Since the moment of your birth.

Anyone lucky enough to meet you,
Is enriched by the event.
You spread nothing but love and happiness.
You’re a man who is heaven sent.

You never cause pain or anguish.
You do all that you can to please.
You are so full of grace and charisma,
That you charm the birds out of the trees.

Without you, the world will be nothing.
The universe will break down and cry,
On the day the angels take you home,
So you can’t be permitted to die!
