What Must It Be Like To Be Dean R Koontz? I am more than a book worm. I am a book-a-holic. I love many authors, but my favourite has to be Dean R Koontz. With, or without the "R", he is the greatest writer of all time in my humble opinion. This is my tribute to him. Thanks Dean for all the wonderful novels you have given us over the years. My favourites are Midnight, Strangers, Watchers, and False Memory. Although I love them all, the one that I have read the most, is Lightening. I am a very practical person most of the time, but Lightening allows to have the kinds of dreams that I dont usually allow myself. |
What Must It Be Like
To Be Dean R Koontz?
By Amanda Jay Clark.
What must it be like
to be Dean R Koontz?
What goes on in his mind?
If we take a good look around in his head,
What do you think we would find?
I see sadness hes turned into triumph.
Hard times hes turned to success.
The abuse and cruelty he suffered,
He worked hard to overcome the stress.
Escaping into
literature,
And leaving the real world behind,
He found a special sanctuary,
Safe from the evils of mankind.
Making friends with the heroic characters,
Through the words each author wrote,
He went on wild adventures,
To lands near, and remote.
Soon, reading wasnt
enough for Dean.
His imagination had grown.
With pencil in hand, he was ready to,
Create adventures of his own.
At first, it didnt come easy.
The work was endless and hard.
Now, hes published in every country,
And held in the highest regard.
His creativity expands
like the universe.
His novels tease, excite, and shock,
With plot twists one after another,
No such thing as writers block.
His characters leap right off the page,
And become as real as any friend.
As real as your own worst nightmare,
Every one you can recommend.
You cant wait to
turn the pages,
As you chase after every clue.
His books are so impossible to put down,
That the words must be printed in glue!
And just when you think youve worked it all out,
Theres another surprise is store,
To keep you right on the edge of your seat,
And shock you right to the core.
Where does he get his
ideas from?
I really wish that I knew.
Then, I would go there myself,
To find an idea or two.
All I want to be, is a writer.
Im striving so hard for that.
I always start off with great gusto,
But then my stories all fall flat.
As much as I love his
novels,
As they each pull me under their spell,
Part of me really hates him,
Cos he makes me jealous as hell.
I would give anything for his talent.
Do you think theres a chance he would share?
I wouldnt be ashamed to grovel,
For any talent he had to spare!
I could write the next
Watchers,
Or the next Key To Midnight.
Cold Fire, lightening, or Strangers,
Perhaps, Servants Of Twilight.
Good God, who am I kidding?
I could never write Ticktock.
Not even locked in a Hideaway,
Working twenty-four hours round the clock!
I once dreamed that I
wrote False Memory,
And, Dark Rivers Of The Heart.
Once awake, and by my computer,
I didnt know where to start.
But, I keep pressing on regardless,
Trying for fortune and fame,
Despite, that even on a good day,
I can barely write my name.
So, I will never make
a novelist.
Ill have to be content to read.
Especially when the author is Dean R Koontz,
Writing books like Demon Seed.
Dean, youre a one-off genius.
A true master of your class.
Your books are loved by millions,
As no other author can surpass.
