In The Dream
I write a lot of poetry about dreams, and dreaming. Since losing the use of my legs in 1987, my imagination has become very vivid. But, most of the things I want to accomplish, are now only available to me in dreams. But fear not! I have got so good at imagining, and dreaming things, that they can almost feel real to me. Dont get me wrong, I am still a big fan of the real world, but I dont think that theres anything wrong with spending a few hours each day in my own, specially constructed dream place. In this poem, I have a dream man, who loves me desperately; but I can never seem to find him when I am awake! Thank God for dreams, then! Perhaps you have a special dream place, too. Tell me about it, and we can compare notes. I could turn your dream place into a poem, and help make it more real to you.
In the Dream.
By Amanda Jay Clark.
I saw your face in a
dream last night,
As you floated by on a cloud.
I saw you again this morning,
As you stood out from the crowd.
In the dream, you
called me to you,
And smiled as you whispered my name.
Then this morning, you completely ignored me,
And quite frankly, I think thats a shame!
In the dream you were
happy to see me.
You stretched out your arms towards mine.
You pulled me to you, and held me,
But awake, I just watch you and pine.
In the dream, the
sunshine was glorious.
We sipped on sparkling champagne.
But when I opened my eyes in the morning,
The sunshine had all turned to rain.
We danced while you
kissed and caressed me,
Your hot breath tickled my neck.
But as daybreak declared my dream over,
I became an emotional wreck.
In the dream you
called me sweetheart.
Said you loved me, and needed me near.
But awake you dont know of my existence,
And you never will, I fear.
Will my only bed
pleasure be sleeping?
Are dreams all the passion Ill know?
If youd just take a chance and love me,
Theres no end to the pleasure Id show.
Tell me, how do I get
your attention?
While Im wide awake, I mean.
Will you ever love me in real life?
Or will we only ever meet in a dream!
