Betrayal

Some people will put up with more pain from their partners, than others. Some people, have no choice. I have never been married, but I have seen the pain and humiliation that betrayal causes. It’s happened to my friends, and it’s happened to members of my own family. It stinks! And yet, it continues to happen. Should betrayal be forgiven? My friend, who has given me permission to publish this poem I wrote for her, but has asked not to be named, forgave her husband countless discretion’s before finally leaving him. She had always feared living alone, but now that she has made that move, she is happier than ever. It was a very courageous move on her part, and thankfully, one that has paid off. She says it’s much better to be alone by yourself, than alone with someone else, who is constantly hurting and betraying you. Well done mate. I wrote this poem for her when she gave her husband one last chance. A chance that he blew.

Betrayal.
By Amanda Jay Clark.

You hurt me you know, with that thing that you did,
It very near tore me in two.
My commitment and loyalty weren’t repaid,
I was betrayed and dishonoured by you.

Just a fling you called it, said it meant nothing,
So, why risk our family?
You ran to her arms when my back was turned.
The one who meant nothing, was me!

I’m taking you back for the sake of our daughter,
But my love and trust have gone.
I’ll try to forgive you, but that will take time,
And I’ll be watching you from now on.

I want you to know, this is your last chance,
If you stray from the path once more,
It’s over for good, there’ll be no coming back,
I’m tough now, not soft like before.

I’ll still cook your dinner, and sleep in your bed,
But affection and respect must be earned.
And if I forgive, I will never forget,
There’s a lesson here to be learned.

If you ever forget the pain that you caused,
Whether she meant anything, or not.
Kiss goodbye to your family and walk right away,
You’ll lose everything that you’ve got!
