Today, Tomorrow & Always
Every Tuesday morning without fail, this sweet old couple, (Im guessing that they are in their mid-nineties,) walk past my bungalow, holding hands. They seem as close, and as loving as Siamese twins. I bet that they cant even remember a time when they didnt know each other. They must have been together over seventy years. I feel a lump in my throat just looking at them. Its nice to know, that with all the rotten things going on in the world, and with every second marriage ending in divorce, that this couple have stuck together, no matter what. It has to be love, of course. Some times, actually most of the time, I dont think that there is any such thing as love. But seeing these two, I am glad that I am wrong. I dont know their names, but whoever you are, this poem is for the two of you. Do you know a couple who have been together, forever? Let me know about them, and Ill write them a poem, too.
Today, Tomorrow, &
Always.
By Amanda Jay Clark.
Today, tomorrow, and
Always,
Like yesterday, I love you.
Every hour that we spend together,
Is an hour where smiles shine through.
All the years that weve been together,
Ive never known any regret,
Every day, a day to remember,
Not one Id like to forget.
Though times havent always been easy,
And sorrows have come our way,
Weve chased them from sight united,
Together every day.
When money was tight, we went hungry,
Till we managed to rise above.
We huddled to keep out the cold,
But we never went hungry for love.
While other couples drift apart,
We just grow closer, together,
Siamese souls joined at the heart,
Attached and devoted forever.
And when we run out of tomorrows,
When today is our last day,
Today, tomorrow and always,
I thank God he sent you my way.
