We believe in breeding for the complete Sheltie -- a dog that is
sound mentally, genetically and structurally. Having been actually breeding Shelties
for 15 years and having my own dogs in both breed and obedience rings, I have spent much
time contemplating just what I hope to achieve and what I expect from my dogs.
Living in northern Vermont leaves me a considerable distance
from major shows and therefore unable to show as much as I could otherwise. However
I have made it my goal to breed for the best show-potential dog possible, knowing full
well most would go to obedience and/or pet homes. This venture has proved to be much
more gratifying than I imagined!! Sheila's Shelties have excelled in many areas,
including breed, agility and obedience (not to mention beautiful, loving
companions). The many letters and calls from happy Sheltie owners and the many
repeat clients have been most satisfying.
Our breeding program is small, producing only one or two litters
a year. Our aim is for QUALITY!!!!!!! not quantity. More than a few people
have come to realize that holding out for a "Sheila Sheltie" has been well worth
the wait.
