Family’s Heritage

By: Michael Jay Cheng

My parents came from Taiwan in 1987, which is East of China.  At Taiwan, they use traditional Chinese chopsticks.  On the South region of Taiwan, lies an agricultural land.  At “Chinese New Years” we have red envelopes with money inside.  The color red to the Chinese is a sign of happiness.  Most of the Republic of China, (Which is another way to say Taiwan), their clothing are much the same as they are on the western part of the globe.

To cook, they used firewood and bricks to cook Chinese meals, traditionally.  They were old fashioned.  Now they have stoves, microwaves, and ovens, which were much easier than the old kinds of cooking devices.  The Chinese were the first to invent gunpowder, but they did not use it for guns.  Arrows, knives, and spears were used to battle in wars.

My dad came to the USA for a better life.  It is because life in Taiwan was poor.  Dad came to the USA in the year 1878.  He came on an airplane.

Talents

My name is Michael Jay Cheng. I have a talent of typing fast on the computer.

My favorite thing to do is going on the computer and playing games. My favorite kind of game is a strategy game. Playing these kind of game helps me build my strategy place in my brain. That favorite game is called Westwood and it is called Red Alert.

My next favorite thing on the computer is to surf on the Internet. My mom and Dad can trust me when I go on the Internet. I t is because I know what sites I’m not supposed to go and which I can go to. When I surf, I always go to the Internet search before I do anything. On the Internet, I bookmark site on the net after I found a site that I like or need.

The next thing I do best on the computer is typing. I type fast on the computer. I practice a lot of my typing at home and at school. Some times my dad will give me some money for typing things on the computer for his buisness.

If I ever have a chance, I want to learn about the computers manual controls. Like the back of the computer, the wires, and the buttons. I also want to learn about the inside of the computers; I want to know how to fix the computer from the inside outside and the back. I already know a few ways.
