Today was organized as a 'Fun Day' by the man who sponsors James Birkinshaw (Richard Parfrement). It was a chance for the riders to get together for a fun day out before the season started and to blow the cobwebs away. It was also to see if we couldn’t get an official training track record. The riders in the line up were

The riders went out in pairs, starting at opposite sides of the track. The timekeeper was John Todd Jr. There were 15 races, two semis and a final. The racing went as follows………..

In the interval 13-year-old Ben Wilson went out onto the track to practice. John was asked if he could time the youngster. Ben's time over the line was 53.5 seconds
Simon and James contested race sixteen. This race produced the most exciting ride of the afternoon. It’s a pity someone had to lose but James was only a split second behind Simon, Simon’s time was 49.5
Race seventeen saw Robbie and David battling it out with the result that David won with a time of 48.6
The final was between Simon and David. The coin was tossed and David won the call. They shook hands and took up their positions. David won smashing his best time by 0.4 seconds to walk away with a training track record of 48.2 seconds.
It was an absolutely brilliant day all round which saw some top class riding from all the riders involved.
