Alternative Music Society
The Alternative Music Society was originally created at Sheffield University, providing a more wide ranging alternative to the Rock Society, but soon enough many non-students and students from Sheffield Hallam University joined up. We are run by a commitee, currently consisting of 6 people, who pass on the job to some foolhardy first years when they get bored of it all. That's how we got into it anyway. We cover a wide range of music, from indie to punk via blues, alt-country and electronica. If that makes any sense. The AMS provides an email 'mailout' to all members every Sunday night detailing all the wonderful things happening on the alternative music scene in the coming week. When we get round to it we occasionally organise some sort of social event as well. We hope this website is a useful resource on the Sheffield indie scene for our members and non-members alike.
