Harry Potter

The Following is likely to gain guffaws and eye rolling.  I know - I did the same thing.  Prayerfully read what you see not what you feel.  After reading this letter I found myself amazed at how much we take for granted in terms of what
we accept as acceptable.  There are names that you will recognize and the use may be offensive and perhaps best left unnamed but the facts remain.  Harry Potter could well be one of those sleeping giants.  Personally I have read a few stories with my youngest who is fascinated by the stories, but they moved and disturbed my spirit.  Definitely there is something wrong when it happens.  If you have never read the books to your kids then the following may well cause the eyes to roll.  We do however need to be informed.  Read the book then read the reviews and be informed - it is the only way that we can effectively translate to our kids what is good and acceptable and what is not.

My personal slant on this is that because Harry Potter is a "normal" kid that these stories are all the more inviting to the young mind.  I allow my daughter to read because she enjoys it but too many times children are left to draw their
own conclusions... that is where we err.  Children are children until they learn to discern -until then it is our job to guide them in discerning right from wrong... Decide, but be informed.

Witchcraft is real and the Lord has plainly determined to us that we are not to "go there".  When you put a pretty face on those things that are wrong then it becomes more difficult to determine what is right and what is wrong.
