Notes for Johann Matthias Fensteraacher
JOHANN MATTHIAS was born posthumously on Sept. 24, 1678
At age 60, with sons Johann Jacob, age 29 and Wilhelm, age 25, he arrived in Phila., on the good ship "Glasgow", on Sept. 9, 1738, having been preceded by son PHILIP, age 20, who arrived Aug. 30, 1737, on the good ship "Samuel".
Passenger lists of that time show only names of males over 16 years of age, so it is not known how many of their family came with them. No record can be found of his wife, and it is assumed that she was deceased prior to their departure.
The family settled in Oley Township, Berks County, Pa. Tax lists of 1761 show resettlement to Longswamp Township. They helped to found the Longswamp Reformed Church which was
started in 1748. Earliest written records start about 1762.
