Hirsi Ahmed>>> Hello my name is Hirsi Mahad
Sheik, I am 10years old.
Hirsi Karie>>>> Hi, my name is Hirsi Mahad
Mohamud, and I am 11 years old.
Hirsi Ahmed>>>the name Hirsi Mahad comes down
to us from our grandfather. His name was also Hirsi Mahad. So I’m glad that we
share a name with a very special person in our family’s lives. The Ethiopians
killed my grandfather in 1964 while he was struggling for his independence.
Hirsi Karie>>> we come here tonight to tell
you littlie about Ogadenia and the problems that the people over there are
facing today. Ogadenia is surrounded by Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia and Djibouti.
Hirsi Ahmed>>> Ogadenia is a rich country. It
has natural resources, which includes natural gas, oil, and minerals. It has a
large fertile land and it is one of the leading regions in livestock. Despite
the wealth, Ogadenia is one of the poorest regions in the horn of Africa
because of the war-waged y Ethiopians against the people of Ogadenia.
Hirsi Karie>>> the people live over there are
Somalis who share a single language, a single culture and a single religion. As
Ogaden American children, we believe that we have the right to say that Ogaden
Somalis have no right to anything. The Ethiopian government is commuting human
rights violations against the Ogaden people such as killings the jail time,
torture and harassment. Ethiopia is being encouraged to commit these harsh ways
against the people of Ogadenia. Without any censorship by the international
communities human rights violations.
Hirsi Ahmed>>> there is no educational system,
no health centers, no transportation system, and no water system. In Ogadenia
as a result, the life below zero.
As afar as I am concerned, Somali
children in Ogadenia are far the most poorest uneducated and under privileged
children in the world. Thousands of kids die from diseases and starvation every
day. These kids live in abusive environment. Every day, these kids see their
fathers being murdered; they say their mothers and sisters being rapped in
front of them. There are a number of kids between the ages of 7 and 10 who are
held in jails and abused in there.
Hirsi
Karie>>> it seems
that these kids need our help. They need help from all of the international
communities. They need their freedom and they need their peace. What I do not
understand is why these kids are being ignored. It seems that no body wants to
do anything to help these poor kids. We need Americans help and all the other
help that we can get. Since America is mostly a democratic world, we need their
help. We believe that every man is created equal and has the right to a life,
freedom and happiness. And we believe that the people of Ogadenia deserve some
of that.
