Hi, my name is Brady – old friend of the groom, original wingman, college roommate, and keeper of many stories from long ago. Don’t worry, I won’t tell all of them, the details are kinda foggy anyway.
Matt and I first met in band camp, August 1993. Can that be 15 years ago? We had some good times freshman year. Matt was my roommate in the dorm the next year – we had a pretty good setup too, with that funky brown shag carpet and “Dallas” sign. Then a string of apartments, I can’t even remember any street names any more [Salisbury, Wiggins - M]. Even when his name wasn’t on the lease, he was a roommate anyway.
Several great stories do stick out though:
Freshman year, Ben and Jerry’s. Matt and I somehow managed to convince 26(or was it maybe 24?) lovely ladies to join us for an evening out. Our legend spread, and was how I eventually met my Kristin. [not sure the number, but it was the entire 5th floor girls side of Harrison Hall, don't be a playa hata, hate the game -M]
There was the epic super-soaker battle in the parking lot of that one apartment building (the one with the pool). I swear that must have lasted for hours.
Or that time we went to the grocery store, got a cart full of groceries and then couldn’t get the back of the orange-red S-10 open. We managed to stuff groceries into every possible location in the front of that truck, there were even a few cans in the glove box? But we got the whole load home. [3 guys, $120 worth of groceries in the front of a standard cab S10 -M]
That one time (with Miller?) figuring out that his phone number at the new apartment actually spelled something – SHEDLUV. Who would have guessed it would stick?
The last day of finals in ‘98, hitting the road and heading for Chicago to hang with Timmy. Vegas was too expensive, but seriously considered.
Let’s not forget sock lighting, Madden ‘97, Need For Speed, chocolate chip cookies, the waxed keg tub, exploding frozen beers, sledding on Slater hill, La Bambas burritos… so many more stories to catch up on.
I’d kind of lost track of Matt for a few (10 ish?) years, but he finally found me a few months ago. Thanks Shed! We’re looking forward to seeing you again.
