 A work in progress

According to Webster's Dictionary, shed is defined as:

a small structure for shelter or storage; to pour out; to cause to flow; to radiate; to cause to flow off; to cast off.

SHEDD is an alternative rock trio based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Their music is best described as strong vocals over "edgy" guitar with solid bass & "kick-ass" drums.

Artists that have influenced SHEDD are: Nirvana, Radio Head, Smashing Pumpkins, Foo Fighters, The Clash, Sex Pistols and Jimmy Hendrix. Individually, the trio's influences are all over the map. Gerry Lemos, vocals & guitars, fuses punk rock, soft rock heavy metal and pop rock into his song writing. On bass guitar & vocals, John Bettencourt blends Geddy Lee, Stanley Clarke and Flea into a unique style that is melodic and rock solid. Fern Corvelo, drums & vocals, borrows from such mentors as John Bonham and Ian Paice and fuses the non-traditional techniques of Terry Bozio and Stewart Copeland to create a style that is all his own. Together, Lemos, Corvelo and Bettencourt have created a synergy of sound that is unmistakably SHEDD.

In 1997, Lemos hooked up with two high-school buddies to form a band. They began practicing in a shed in Lemos' back yard (hence the name SHEDD) and soon played their first gig at their local high school; however, Lemos wanted to do more than play cover tunes in a "garage band".

Three years and two new members later, SHEDD has come into its own with the five-song, independent release "It's all good" a compilation of songs representative of the growing pains experienced by Lemos with the band and life in general.

SHEDD has also enjoyed success on mp3 (mp3.com/shedd), ranking 57 on the alternative chart. Live performances at The 360 in Toronto as well as various venues in and around Toronto have been well received, and a loyal core following has emerged.

Work has begun on material for their first full-length CD. SHEDD continues to push the boundaries of the alternative rock genre by infusing elements of power-pop, funk, trance and Afro-rhythms into its music. If "It's all good" is any indication, the second release from SHEDD will be worth the wait. Expect great things.
