| A tale of a strong female opening her mind to the world around her, learning, and ultimately overcoming the obstacles that sometimes can seem impossible. The king's assassin and daughter, Alendrea, is sent on a mission to obtain a painter's secrets. She learns not only his secrets, but also some fundamental truths about life and herself in the process. In the end she must choose whether to do her king's bidding or hold to the truths she has learned, the cost of her own life at stake. |

| Friday, October 14, 2005: PublishAmerica extends offer to publish "King's Assassin." Wednesday, October 19, 2005: Publish America mails contract. Monday, October 24, 2005: Contracts received and signed. Tuesday, October 25, 2005: Letter to accompany contract composed and printed. Wednesday, October 26, 2005: Contract mailed to Publish America. Wednesday, November 2, 2005: Publish America received contract. In return, Publish America emailed a massive author questionnaire, including the request for 150 word back cover synopsis and 50 word bio, cover suggestions, manuscript reformatting, glossy black &white recent photos, and to get a copyright. Only fourteen days are allowed for the return of the requested information. Thursday, November 3, 2005: Address list completed. Author bio completed. Synopsis completed. Manuscript reformatted for first processing. Questions answered. Only photo session with Chuck Ambrose and obtaining a copyright left. Friday, November 4, 2005: Proofread King's Assassin for the millionth time. Filled out copyright registration form. easy peasy. Sunday, November 13, 2005: Photoshoot with Chuck. It was fun and went quickly. He took 151 shots in the space of an hour and in several locations around the Water Gardens. Monday, November 14, 2005: Emailed the author questionnaire with replies, process ready manuscript, list, synopsis, bio, and so on back to Publish America. Will send a followup email to make certain the email was received. Feeling very, very antsy. We shall see what happens, I suppose. Wednesday, November 16, 2005: They received my files and all is in order. The manuscript is now in text production. Next contact will be from the editor or proofer assigned to me. That may not happen for several months, however. I will assume I will not be hearing anything until March, 2006. In the meantime, hoping things happen more quickly is the daily meditation. At least once I hear from the editor/proofer things will move quite quickly. The waiting game has begun. Tuesday, November 29,2005: Selected standard text production track, even though it means the book will not be out until sometime between April and August. I just feel more comfortable with the traditional process of an editor proofing the manuscript for spelling and grammar. Friday, December 2, 2005:Received $1 advance from publisher. Saturday, December 3, 2005: Framed advance and set it in the office. Feeling more like a real live author. Friday, April 21, 2006: The page proofs arrived via email today. I have until May 5th to peruse it and get any needed corrections back to them. It's a real charge seeing it in galley form. Of course, I have over 20 plants that need planting, as well. Wednesday, May 3, 2006: I returned the page proof list of corrections to be made- all 38 of them, only 8 of which were original to the submission. My faith in the editing department is not so spiffy. Friday, May 5, 2006: I received the Final Review page proofs for review. I found yet one more new mistake made during their correction process and one that was not taken care of before and returned that list. We shall see if there is a final final review before it goes to the Cover Design Department. Thursday, May 25, 2006: I received the first cover design. It was stunning with only a couple of changes needed. Friday, May 26, 2006: The cover designer and I worked together via email (all hail the mighty Internet!) for about an hour in the afternoon and finished the cover design. I feared being stuck with an artist as bad as that for the Wheel of Time books. I had braced myself to settle as very few can get an artist as good as Royo or Lawrence Williams or Michael Williams. I cannot express how utterly pleased I am. The book will definitely get picked off the shelf for the art. Hopefully the synopsis will keep it in the buyer's hand. Next stop - the printing! Friday, June 2, 2006: King's Assassin is available online at Publish America. www.publishamerica.com/shopping/shopdisplayproducts.asp?catalogid=14938 The ISBN number for King's Assassin is 1-4241-1967-7 Friday, June 16, 2006: King's Assassin is now also available at www.amazon.com |
