Alice Dow was born May 10, 1876 in Healdsburg, Sonoma County, California.  She was the first child of Andrew Jackson Dow and his wife Delia Rosetta Catlin Dow.  

Alice married Edmond Costelloe on April 15, 1895 in Harbor, Curry County, Oregon.  To this union 5 children were born, Leonard, Elmer, Carl, Myrle and Joe. Edmond Costelloe died November 18, 1912, from a long illness of tuberculosis.  

Alice later married David B. Gilmore on September 1, 1915, and they had a son named David J. Gilmore, who went by the name "Jack". Alice raised 6 children and worked a ranch on the Winchuck River. During her life time she was a well known hunting guide in southern Oregon, especially Curry County.  Many of her hunting parties included several Governors of Oregon.  She died January 23, 1959 in Eureka, Humboldt County, California.
