Mildred Merriman
1913-1982
Mildred Merriman or "Montana" as she was known, was in fact born in the state of Montana on June 17, 1913.  She was the youngest child of DeForest and Lydia Merriman.  Montana had at least 7 siblings that we know of. 

She was first married to Jesse John Ponting, on December 10, 1930 in Port Orford, Oregon. He was born on September 18, 1908 in Pendleton, Oregon and died December 27, 1974, in Port Orford, Oregon.   To this union 2 children were born, Glenn and Sharon Ponting.

She later married to Lauren Costelloe on August 22, 1940 at the home of his sister and her husband, Paul and Eva Gardner.

To this union a daughter was born, Judith Costelloe.

Montana and  her husband, Lauren, also know as "Digger" wrote, edited  and published a magazine called "Oregon Outdoors" for many years. 

Montana died on September 17, 1982.  Digger died on September 15, 1986. Their ashes were scattered at Sourdough Camp in Curry County, Oregon.
