Choral Syllabus
2003-2004

Purpose

The purpose of this syllabus is to familiarize Choral students and parents with rules, policies of the Southern High School Choral Program.

Classroom Rules

1. Obey all School Rules as stated in the SHS Handbook
2. Obey all classroom procedures as follows:
a. No gum, food, candy, or drink (other than water) is allowed in the room.
b. Class begins with the bell so be on time
c. Enter class quietly
d. There should be no talking while individual sections are rehearsing.
e. You are responsible for any mess you make in the room
f. All students must be in there assigned places at all times
g. No students should play the piano without permission
h. Students are permitted to have bottled water
i. Show respect to yourself, the teacher, and all others in the class
j. Follow all directions the first time
k. Arrive to class with all materials and prepared to work

Consequences

I am a firm believer that mature people are capable of governing themselves.  For everyone else I will follow these procedures:
First offense.................Verbal Warning
Second offense...............Removal from classroom activity
30 min detention
Third offense........Call to parents and 60 min detention
Fourth Offense......Administrative referral and loss of trip rights
Fifth Offense.....forfeiture of performance rights

Grading Scale

35% - Class Participation
45% - Rehearsals, Performances, and Tests
20% - Homework and Written Classwork

Fair Share Fees

A $50 fee is required from every student each semester.  This fee is to be used for costume repair and alteration, purchase of music, paying band members, and other various expences.  I will work with people who may have problems with this payment.
