Want to contribute?

If you have something you feel should be added to these pages, send it to me.
There are a few criteria:
1.) It has to solve a real problem.
Knowing how to make backyard tiki torches from random materials my be ingenious, but it isn't really useful from a development standpoint.
2.) It has to be based off of easily taught skills or derived from local skills
One of the focuses of development work is sustainability. Not only do you have to know how to do these, but you need to be able to teach a host country population, many of whom could be illiterate, how to do these projects. Besides, often the simplest solutions are the best.
3.) It has to be able to be reproduced from local materials.
Again, since sustainability is desired, it would not be practical to base the technology off of materials that need to be shipped in from other area.
4.) It can't be illegal or anything that can be used as a weapon.
This may be common sense, but still, I don't want good intentioned people sending me instructions for explosives to blow up tree trunks. Besides, these days that could get me into a lot of trouble with Big Brother.

If what you have meets the above requirements, e-mail me a written description.
            Please be sure to include:
                Your name
The host country you lived in when you came up with your appropriate technology solution.
                The problem to be solved
Any references you used to develop your solution (books, web pages, etc)
                A list of materials
A description, in your own words, of how to build and use the system
If you have pictures, feel free to send them as .jpeg files

Good luck
