SweetHearts vs Krush
May 30, 2003 - Game #305

The first rematch of the season would be to the team that the 'Hearts lost a heartbreaker to just two weeks ago. Wild pitches would undo the SweetHearts early as Meghan struck out the first batter, allowed a batter to get on with and overthrown at first. Then came the wild pitches and catcher errors allowing the runner to score. ANother strike out followed by a solid base hit. Again before she could strike out the fifth batter, wild pitches allowed the runner to score again.

The SweetHearts went down meekly in just four batters. Back on the field defensively the inning was almost a carbon copy of the first. A hit, a strike out, a walk, wild pitches, and run scores. Another walk, wild pitches, and a second run scores. Finally the inning was finished with a strike out.

The 'Hearts could do nothing right at the plate. A popup to the catcher followed by a strike, a walk, and another strike out left the team wondering what was wrong. Things went a little better in the top of the third as she got one to strike out before getting a dropped third toss to first for the second out. A line shot to Dana at Short stop was thrown on the mark to first to get out number three.

In the bottom of three the 'Hearts came alive but too little too late. Their first batter struck out, the second was caught stealing second. The last batter in the lineup walked, followed by another, and another. Mistakes by a tiring Krush catcher allowed three runs to score as the 'Hearts began to make a game of it. However, pushing the game a little too hard, the 'Hearts third base coach called for a steal of third which was thrown out cutting the inning one run short.

In the fourth a pitching coach's pitch call allowed the Krush batter to sail a hit over the left fielder's head for a homerun. The second batter lined one to K.K. at third who 'zinged' it to first for the out. The next batter would be the last of the night for Meghan as she strain a muscle on a pitch and had to be replaced by K.K. She would allow to hits and then get the final batter to hit one back to the mound for an easy put out at first.

One last at bat for the 'Hearts. Batter one hit back to the first baseman for an out. Natalie then walked and stole second on the next pitch. Two pitches later she was on third but the SweetHearts now had two outs. She managed to steal home on a wild pitch but the batter struck out one pitch later. The final was 6-4 and the SweetHearts dropping their third game in six tries. Meghan didn't have a great night only picking up 6 K's in 17 batters. Her season total stands at 58 averaging just under 10 a game.
