SweetHearts Game Summary SweetHearts vs Diamond Raiders Tuesday, May 21, 2002 20th Anniversary Season ~ Game # 290 This was another in a series of strange games due to the new SPAR Curfew Rule, the 
SweetHearts claimed a 'by-rule' 6-5 victory over a team that just would
not die. After taking a fast 4-0 lead in the first on a collection of hits
and walks, the Raiders just kept the pressure on.
In the second the Raiders pushed across three runs as Meghan had problems finding the strike zone that the umpire was calling. Two walks and a hit in the first three batters was all the Raiders needed. They then shut the 'Hearts down in the third to take a 5-4 lead at the mid-point of the third. Meghan led off with a walk and was followed by solid hits by Amanda and Caitlin to help the SweetHearts reclaim the lead. As time started to tick towards the curfew both teams shut each other down for no runs in either half of the fourth.
All of this will end with the next game as the curfew rule will stop beginning June 1.

Now
came the the fifth inning and with only minutes left, the 'Hearts knew
they where in control no matter what the Raiders did. The SweetHearts moved
a couple of players around as the Raiders pushed across three runs that
would not matter. With the SPAR rule, when time was called in the middle
of the top of the fifth inning, the game and the score reverted back to
the previous inning leaving the SweetHearts with a 6-5 win.
