SweetHearts Game Summary
SweetHearts vs Bayou Blasters, Wednesday, May 31, 2000

When you know a game will be a forfeit in two and a half innings and you will win no matter what actually happens on the field, it gets very hard to play the way you should.

According to the SPAR rules, since the Blasters had only eight players, they would be allowed to play only two-and-a-half innings if their ninth player didn't show. The game would then be called a forteit. Jessi took the mound with less intensity than normal and got touched for two runs from the first two batters before she could stop the Blasters.

The 'Hearts got one run back in their half when Jessi scored on Chelsea's double. After a scoreless second inning, the Blasters and the SweetHearts knew that a ninth player was not going to show up. The Blasters added two more runs in what would become the top and final half inning before the umpires called the game.

The Hearts did not even get completely through their batting order and left the field wanting to finish the game. Yes, they remained undefeated but this was not how they wanted to win a game. This "game" upped the SweetHearts' record to 5-0.
