Hackberry The game opened up like it was going to be another blowout of the SweetHearts as Hackberry jumped out to a 3-run lead off a walk and three hits given up by Mary M. Tori came in an closed out the inning getting the next three batters to ground into outs. The bottom of the inning had Amber do some fancy base running as she score the only run. Mary M. was tagged out at the plate on what would have been another score. In the second Tori held the Hackberry team to just one run while facing six batters. The ‘Hearts closed the gap in the bottom half by picking up two runs from Katie C and Brandy L. Tori continued her magic in the third as she allowed on two runs on two walks in the eight batters she faced. In the bottom half ofthe third the SweetHearts came alive scoring four runs on great base running to take a lead for the first time in the game.  Hackberry was not going to be denied their first win when the scored three runs as Tori began to tire late in the inning. All the ‘Hearts could do was score one run before the “time rule” closed out the game. The SweetHearts are now 1-3 on the season as the lost the game 9-8. Mary pitched one third of an inning giving up one walk, three hits, and three runs. Tori pitched three and two-thirds innings giving up six runs, on five walks, seven hits, and one hit-batter. © 2005 SweetHearts83.com |
