SweetHearts vs Hackberry
Wednesday, May 24, 2006 - F13 - 7:15pm - Game #339

Finally, our first game with a full team. The SweetHearts picked up a player, Amanda Mercer, and was very happy to have her on the roster. The game against the Hackberry team would be our first real test.

In the top of the first inning Taylor picked up a hit and scored the first run on a steal of home giving the Hearts an early lead. The bottom of the inning saw Taylor on the mound. She appeared a little nervous and awkward allowing the first two Hackberry players to get on base. Over the next three batters, a series of wild pitches allowed them to score before the 'Hearts could get three outs. However, Taylor only faced five batters during her first inning of work.

The second inning saw Elizabeth and Amanda get on with walks and Elizabeth scoring a run on another steal of home tying the score at 2 all. Hackberry would again take the lead, this time for good, on two hits and a hit batter in the bottom have of the inning.

In the third the SweetHearts scored two more runs on a hit by Alyssa followed by Blanche's walk. Two more walks and both runners had advanced to the plate. Taylor's pitching was getting much smoother and the field was improving every inning as the 'Heart's allowed only one run in the third as time ran out in what the park calls "a curfew rule" on school nights.

The final score: 6-4 Hackberry. Taylor struck out three, walked three and hit one in giving up six runs. Sisters, Taylor and Alyssa both had hits while Elizabeth picked up two walks.
