SweetHearts vs
BaseBurners Due to rain this game has been moved to Wednesday, June 9, 5:30pm. The Hearts are glad because we would rather play and lose than get a forfiet win. Three of my best players lead off the top of the first inning and came up empty-handed. The BaseBurners pitcher was very good, reasonably fast, but very inconsistant and we got nada, zip, nothing!
In the bottom of the first the BB’s came up with three runs which the ‘Hearts came right back and matched. The game went back and fourth from there with the SweetHearts tying the game at 6 all in the bottom of the fifth after a desperation attempt to steal home failed.
As time was running out the ‘Hearts knew the best they could hope for was a tie. Tori (T1) had pitched the entire game but was “out of gas”. Dana was brought in to close out the game. With one out the BB’s looped a single just off the glove of shortstop Tori (T2). She then stole second on a pass ball. Dana then served up the wrong pitch as the BB hitter smashed one to the left field fence taking the game and the win at 8-6. The SweetHearts dropped to 4-3 on the season.
