SweetHearts vs Krush
May 16, 2003 - Game #301

Most teams were looking at this game as one to watch between two top squads. The SweetHearts batted first and went down quickly when an uncalled pop up caught a runner stealing second and forced a double play. Krush then took advantage of every gift mistake and error the 'Hearts offered up. An overthrow from second to first put one on, then two dropped thirds put two more on, and overthrow to second cost two runs. Meghan managed to shut things off with two of her eleven strike outs but the damage was done.

In the second the 'Hearts faired no better as they went five up and three down. The Krush added one before Meghan struck out three. In the third the Hearts rallied for two runs on miscues by the Krush catcher. The game began to look more like people expected. Megna hurled two more K's in the third.

The fourth was the real downfall of the 'Hearts as they got the first batter get a hit only to have her thrown out trying to stretch it into a double. The next batter struck out and the next hit to short for an easy out at first - inning over.

Meghan kept the heat on as she tossed three K's in a row to stop the Krush in the fourth. Time was running out for the Hearts as the 'curfew rule' of cutting a game off at 7pm sharp began to get close. The SweetHearts pushed one run across before putting runners at second and third. The final out came on a dropped third that was tagged out at the plate.

Krush won the game 4-3 while the SweetHearts' Meghan struck out 11 of 18 batters bringing her SweetHearts career total to 86 for 6th place in the team's record book. She needs 26 more to move into the team's top five.
