The 2-0 SweetHearts' Jessi Webb made a one run lead in the top of the fifth stand up as she struck out two and got one Magic(1-1) player to ground out to first. The game changed leads five times during the night as the SweetHearts came from behind to win their second game 6-5.
The 'Hearts lead off the game by scoring one run on Jessi's steal home on a passed ball. The Magic countered with a run of their own in the bottom half on the same play.
Magic shut down the SweetHearts in the second when Lynsey was tagged out between second and third when Chelsea's hit went right to the third baseman.
The Maplewood team changed pitchers in the bottom of the second. Seven batters later the Magic was on top 4-1. Magic had two players on when Katie Vander Hay lined a ball to the outfield.
The one thing the SweetHearts coaches preach is that they are never out of a game. With the top of the order coming up in the third the 'Hearts scored three runs on four singles and a hit batter. Magic untied the game with a lone run in their half when the first batter walked and then three put outs at first allowed her to score.
Now the Magic now led 5-4 with two innings to play. The SweetHearts rallied to score one more when Jessi again crossed the plate on a passed ball. Jessi shut down the Magic on two strike outs and a ground out leaving the score tied at 5-5 going into the final frame.
Jessica Louviere walked to open the inning followed by Lynsey Babin's single. They executed a perfect double steal to put them in scoring position. A wild pitch allowed Jessica to score. A single by Mandi Boudion made things look promising for the 'Hearts. Magic called timeout and met at the mound planning what they had to do. On the next pitch they managed to pick off the SweetHearts' player at third before striking out the side.
Jessi was sent back to the mound to protect a one run lead. Pitching the best she had all night, she struck out the first batter and then got the next one to ground out second-to-first. One batter to go. One batter to the top of the Magic order. One batter to their second win. Jessi pitched a strike, then a ball, followed by another ball. With everyone hanging on the fence and screaming in the Magic dugout she delivered a second strike. Now just one pitch needed to be thrown. The coach told her to dig deep and make it her best pitch. With a loud pop of the catcher's glove the ballgame was over and Jessi had her sixth strike out and second win in as many games.
