SweetHearts vs Slammers Thursday, June 20, 2002 20th Anniversary Season ~ Game # 298  Everyone seemed to know that this
game wasn't going to be pretty even before the first pitch was thrown.
The Slammers were playing short-handed and several of their missing players
were tournament team members. They were missing both catchers and had struggled at pitcher all year according to their coach.
Meghan faced only 16 players as she held the Slammers to a single bunt in the first seven batters. The SweetHearts opened up the game with four runs in the first without a single hit. It got worse. In the second 12 runs scored on only one hit. The game was called in the third due to the 15-run mercy rule. The Slammers pitched a "two-hitter" but gave up 20 walks. Meghan allowed four runs on five hits to seal the SweetHearts eighth victory in 13 games as they won 19-4. The 'Hearts are now one game away from the end of their 20th season under coach Greg. Game #299 will be played this Friday night at 5:30pm on field 13 at North Frasch. |
