SweetHearts vs Warriors
June 19, 2003 - Game #311
Under very threatening skies the SweetHearts got back in the win column and avoided the historic eighth loss in a row when the Warriors forfeited. The lost the game due to a 'tournament team' player quieting and refusing to play. Little did the 'Hearts know what was about to happen.

Under clouds that lit up with sheets of lightening, a short practice game was held. The Warriors jumped on Sara's pitching a took a fast 5-run lead. The SweetHearts could manage only one run in the bottom of the first.

In the second Meghan's dad convinced the team to let her pitch to live batters. She had been off the mound for three weeks after her shoulder injury during which the 'Hearts had lost seven straight. She quickly looked her old self as she struck out a batter and the infield ran over to 'high-five' her. They hadn't seen a "K" in quiet a while. Then things fell apart. As Meghan struggle, she began to pout. As she got the third out she came off the field in tears complaining about the umpires calls.

Within five minutes her dad took her out of the dugout and to the car saying that she would not be back this season due to her crying. Another tournament team player quits. This makes the third player to quit this season bring the player total down to 11. With one player not showing up and two more knowing they will miss Monday's game, the 'Hearts have to forfeit their first game in their history.

In just two innings of a practice game the SweetHearts won by forfeit, lost on the field in practice, forfeited a game, and lost its 'ace' pitcher. It should have rained!
