SweetHearts vs Hot Shots June 9, 2003 - Game #307 Without a 'pitcher' things didn't start too bad. K.K. was back and she stepped on the mound and did a very good job. K.K. is the type of player that you are never sure what she is going to do and had the other players been paying closer attention she could have made several big plays catching the opponent off guard.
The 'Hearts were faced with the same problem that they had the last time they played the Hot Shots - no bats - no hits - no nothing at the plate. The Hot Shots on the other hand didn't seem to have a problem with K.K.s pitching or the lack of fielding either. They led by the score of 5-0 after just one inning.
In the second it was more of the same as the SweetHearts got nothing at the plate. The players were beginning to swing the bat more and at least not being "called out" by the umpire. A defensive change in the second moving Meghan to first and Sara to short proved the best choice. K.K. was out of the inning in just six batters and just one run.
In the third K.K. proved to have the only real offensive bat as she drove the ball for a double only to be caught stealing third two pitches later. The team was left with nothing again. K.K. tired on the mound in the third and was replaced by Sara who managed the final out.
One last inning at the plate with hopes of removing the "0" on the scoreboard vanished when the first two batters were easy outs followed by a single by Meghan. The next batter dribbled a hit to the pitcher for the easy out at first. Time was in short supply at the 'Hearts took the field again. Multiple pitching changes led to the Hot Shots running the score to 14-0.
