In the second, the SweetHearts took advantage of  both Slammer's pitchers. Neither could find the plate as SweetHeart after SweetHeart was walked - six in a row at one point. The score ballooned to 12-4 at the middle of two. Meghan was a little better in the second as she struck out two of the first three batters before giving up four runs.

In the top of the third the 'Hearts had a field-day at the Slammer Pitcher's expense. They batted through the order twice scoring 15 runs before they finallly forced a couple of players to get out so they could go home. The Slammers coach  refused to give up and had his team stand in the field more than 45 minutes watching a base-running clinic. In the bottom of the third, with time long expired, Meghan shut down the Slammers, allowing one run with two strike outs.

In a game that should have ended at 7pm, the final out was called at 7:45pm. On an interesting note, one of the umpires who refused to call our game the night before (see June 5th game page) had to stay very late tonight.

The SweetHearts upped their record to 5-2-1. The 27 runs was the second largest score in SweetHearts history. They beat the Mermaids 29-3 in 1992.
