SweetHearts vs Cajun Twisters
June 2, 2003 - Game #306

On a dark drizzling afternoon the news just kept getting worse. Meghan injured her arm in the previous game and the news today was that docttor's orders said she could not pitch for two weeks. Now what do we do? Seems that the Twisters coach was dancing with joy. She kept saying "Now you are going to see how the rest of us live!" The loss of a pither meant that it was now 'open season' on the SweetHearts. The team was already struggling with lack of offensive power and now there was no defense on the mound.

With a light rain coming down the game began with the 'Hearts trying various pitchers and defensive lineups. By the end of one inning it was already 5-3 against the 'Hearts. With a second pitcher the score exploded to 16-6.

A good defensive inning allowed the 'Hearts to close the gap only a little as the score closed to 16-8. The Cajun Twisters batted again before time ran out thankfully ending the pounding at 18-8.

Word spead around the park fast and it seemed that everyone was drooling over the thought of getting at the SweetHearts while they are down.

The SweetHearts went though four "pitchers" and had so many defensive position changes that seems everyone had their chance to play 'somewhere else'. A team that was becoming known for strike outs, this game had none by the pitching staff. Who knows what the next game may bring.
