SweetHearts vs Krush
Thursday, June 9, 2005 - F13 - 5:30pm - Game #331

Krush hasn't been defeated yet this season. Most teams don't even come close so we knew this would be a very long night. We weren't disappointed. Being home team was no picnic tonight at struggles with pitching and catching let Krush open the game with 16 runs in the top of the first inning. There were 10 runs on walks, singles, doubles, triples, and yes even homeruns before the 'Hearts were able to manage the first out. Six runs later Tori managed to get a Krush batter to strike out.

There was very little time in our dugout as the first three batters went 3-up-3-down and the team trotted back out on the field. Krush added another ten runs to the scoreboard - which fortunately was working tonight. Grace, who showed up late due to a doctor's appointed, stepped up to the plate as soon as she arrived and got a walk. Skillful base running and she became the first SweetHeart to score getting the "goose-egg" off the scorebook.

Mary came in to pitch the third inning and  managed to hold the Krush to just one additional run. In the bottom of the third the 'Hearts managed to get things moving with a brief rally scoring three runs as the game came to a close due to the park's run rule. It had been a long game with the 'Hearts on the losing side of a 27-4 beating. It could have been much worse if the Krush coach, a friend of Coach Greg's, hadn't held his team back a bit.

The SweetHearts are now 2-6 on the season.
