SweetHearts vs Lady Crush

The game opened with pitching that could not find the strike zone and an umpire that had no strike zone. As coach walked to the mound after four batters he told Mary that "some nights are just no meant to be". Normally she pitches fair for not being a pitcher-per-say. Tonight wasn't one of them. She and Tori swapped places and Mary went on to have a great night at short stop. The first inning ended with the 'Hearts being down by four runs. They managed only one run in their half on a walk by Mary and her skillful base running. The other three batters struck out.

In the second Tori held the Crush to no runs and was aided by them batting out of order. In the 'Hearts half of the second, Alyssa walked, followed by two more strike outs before we were able to get a walk by Cyanna and a double by Grace. Grace was able to score before the next batter struck out. The game was tied at four.

In the third the Crush managed three more runs in just six batters. The 'Hearts were again aided by a Crush base runner leaving the base early. The SweetHearts however, went down quietly and quickly on a pop-up to third, two strike outs and a hit batter.

The fourth saw the Crush adding four more runs as over throws and fielding errors 'gave' Crush easy runs. Tori's pitching was on target but Crush just hit the ball and the 'Hearts couldn't field it. In the bottom of the fourth the SweetHearts continued to watch the ball sail by without swinging the bat as they went down to strikeouts - three batters, three outs, and just 11 pitches.

Final score 11-4 Crush. The SweetHearts are now 2-5 at the halfway point in the season. Leading the team at the plate was Grace with a double and Cyanna, Alyssa, and Mary with walks. The team also had 10 strike outs.
