SweetHearts vs Lady Astros

We tried playing the game a little different tonight just to see what happens. I didn't set the batting order or field positions until players got to the game. It must have worked. The Lady Astros have been playing well this season with decent pitching. As we began the game I was a little nervous. Mary allowed four hits in the first five batters giving up one run but quickly settled down striking out the next batter and getting the next to pop out to her on the mound. Not bad considering how we have been doing. The fear set in during the bottom half of the inning. We got runners into scoring position at second and third then had the next three batters strike out - not a good sign.

In the second Mary managed again to hold the Lady Astros to just one run on one hit and one walk. Very good defense played a major hand in the inning. The second inning began right where the first left off as Alyssa led off with a strike out. She was followed by hits from Brandy, Grace, Amberly and a walk by Chelseay tying the score at 2.

The third saw the Astros take a big lead with four runs in just seven batters as Tori struggled on the mound. However, the 'Hearts showed their running ability scoring seven runs on great hitting and running by Tori, Samantha, Amber, Brandy, Grace, and Mary.

Tori spent the next two innings holding the Lady Astros to just one run getting the last six outs in a row following an opening walk. The SweetHearts took a 9-7 win upping their record to 2-4.
