SweetHearts vs Lady Longhorns
Wednesday, June 7, 2006 - F14 - 7:15pm - Game #342

Some games are just ugly from the "Git-Go" and this was one of them. The Lady Longhorn's pitcher struck out six of our 11 batters tonight allowing only one hit and one walk in the process. The Hearts opened the game with three up and three down. Taylor began the evening on the mound struggling allowing four hits, three walks, and seven runs before Leah came in to close out the inning.

The second inning was a repeat of the first with the 'Horns striking out three in a row. Leah came back to the mound in the second and faired no better than Taylor giving up eight runs before Taylor returned to the mound to get the final out on one pitch.

The 'Hearts were now staring at the game being called for the mercy rule with a 15-0 lead by the Longhorns. One half inning to go and the game would be called. Strike out - one down, Jeannette came to bat and managed to get on. Another strike out. Jeannette rounds the bases on steals and scores a run. Leah gets one and steals her way home before the third out. Now we have to keep playing with the game setting at 15-2, Longhorns.

Finally things look better. The first 'Horn gets on, we get a strike out, next one gets on but is thrown out at second, two outs.  Another Longhorn gets on then we walk another. The second run scores bringing the game back to a 15 run lead. "BALL GAME" shouts the ump.

We lost 17-2 even with Jeannette and Amanda's lucky bears from McDonalds. Maybe tomorrow night.
