SweetHearts vs The Stingrays
Tuesday, June 6, 2006 - F13 - 5:30pm - Game #341

The first game of a three-night-set started off looking fairly good as lead-off batter Leah took a base-on-balls and put together a series of steals to score the night's opening run. However, her team-mates followed with strike outs. The Stingrays open their half of the game with a two walks, a strikeout, and base hit to score two runs taking an early lead.

In the second the 'Hearts managed one more run when a walk to Elizabeth turned into the tying run. When Taylor returned to the mound to face the Stingrays she was backed by very good defense and kept the Rays off the scoreboard.

The third inning opened with the SweetHearts pushing across two more runs by Michaela and Leah. In the bottom half of the inning the coaches changed pitchers which looked great after the first two batters. Leah struck out the first two before hitting the next batter. That was followed by a walk, another hit batter, a couple of hits, more walks and suddenly the 'Hearts were behind 8-4. Taylor came back in to close out the inning.

The fourth saw the SweetHearts  produce no runs in five batters. Leah went back on the mound and pitched magnificently holding the Rays to no runs and only four batters.

A fifth inning also produced nothing leaving the 'Hearts losers of their third game in as many, 8-4. Leah lead the team with 2 hits in three at bats. On the mound Taylor pitched 2 and a third innings  giving up 2 runs on 2 hits, walked 5 and struck out 3. Leah pitched 1 and two-thirds innings giving up 6 runs on four hits with one walk and three strike outs.
