SweetHearts vs BaseBurners
Monday, May 14, 2007 - F14 - 5:30pm - Game #350

RAINED OUT May 14 (see below for make-up)

And the 25th year starts with nasty lightening, thunder and rain as the Sweethearts begin their Silver Season. We did get warm-ups and a meeting at home plate before the first 'very close' crack on lightening and thunder. Both teams scurried to the dugout. Before we could look up the Baseburners were burning tail to the parking lot. So much for the league rule of waiting 15 minutes.

It's a good thing however as the weather dumped on us very, very quickly.

However, we did get to take a photo before we headed to our own cars.

SweetHearts vs BaseBurners
(part of a Double Header make-up) Friday, June 1, 2007 - F14 - 5:30pm - Game #353

Finally we get to play what was to be the first game of the season. The BaseBurners headed to the plate to face the league's best pitcher a this point in the season. Taylor came to the circle following a six batter six K's evening last night. After hitting the first batter struck out the next, walked the next, struck out the next and finished the inning with a bloop hit to second. Megan made an ugly but in-time throw to first. In the bottom of the first the 'Hearts showed were strength is - base running. Eleven batter came to the plate producing seven runs on a combination of eight walks and two hits.

The second inning was even worse for the BaseBurners. Taylor got a routine out at first followed by two more strike outs. On the offensive side of the plate the 'Hearts scored 10 more runs in 15 batters including Terrah's centerfield homerun!

The coaches put Leah in to pitch the third inning. The Burners managed to string together enough hits and walks to get the "0" off the board and put five runs in the scorebook. The 'Hearts put three more runs on the board before the umpires called the game at 20-5.
