SHC Information

We, the members of SOUTHERN HERITAGE OF THE CAROLINAS, believe in and are committed to, protect, preserve, and celebrate our Southern culture and heritage, and to honor the memory and traditions of all those who acted in accordance with their beliefs by defending their states and their sovereign rights while serving in the armed forces of the Confederacy. Further, we hold the following principles to be compatible with this Statement:

* We respect all cultures and ancestral heritages, and hold an absolute, uncompromising insistence that others show respect for our Southern culture, heritage, and Confederate ancestors.

* Freedom of expression is the cornerstone of a free and independent society. We will exercise our right to cherish our Southern heritage an honor our Confederate forefathers.

* We believe in the equality of all people. We deplore and will oppose all those who espouse inequality or superiority based on race, culture, or other arbitrary groupings. Our Southern ancestors were motivated by Constitutional principles, defense of their homes,and an unwavering desire to protect their sovereign rights, not by hatred of other races.

* Membership is open to all noble, fair-minded supporters of these ideals and of the Constitutional principles for which our ancestors fought. Southern ancestry is not required, but a firm belief in Southern culture, traditions, and heritage is.

* We will defend against ignorant or malicious attacks on our Southern culture or traditions or directed against our Confederate ancestors. We harbor Malice Toward None, but insist unrelentingly that others harbor no malice toward us.

* Preservation of historic sites, battlefields, monuments, and cemeteries associated with our nation's wars up to and including the War Between The States is crucial to maintaining our distinctive Southern culture and heritage. A nation that forsakes it's past is doomed to fail and indeed, is not worth saving.

* We believe in and will defend the original Constitution, a straightforward document as written by our Founding Fathers, and as defended by our Southern ancestors.

Dear Southern Supporter:

Thank you for your inquiry regarding Southern Heritage of the Carolinas. SHC is a new organization dedicated to protect, preserve, and celebrate the traditional culture and heritage of the antebellum Southland.

Southern Heritage of the Carolinas engages in positive activities designed to enhance our goals and raise the level of pride Southerners feel for their past. Unlike other Southern rights organizations, Southern Heritage of the Carolinas does not pursue a political agenda of any type, nor does it require ancestral connections to Confederate forefathers; in fact, you don't even have to be Southern to join. All we require is that you share a love for, and reverence of, our traditional Southern culture and heritage.

SHC is planning a wide and varied schedule of activities, educational seminars, and events to promote our Southern heritage, and we welcome all those who wish to join in and help us in our efforts to preserve the positive aspects of the South. We intend to focus our efforts on the North Carolina and South Carolina region, but welcome the participation of all dedicated lovers of the South, regardless of their place of residence.

Southern Heritage of the Carolinas collects annual dues in the amount of $ 20.00 for a family membership. Dues allow us to publish and deliver copies of our quarterly newsletter, and any and all excess funds are earmarked exclusively for our many projects, including the restoration of historic sites and monuments, and the preservation and maintenance of cemeteries.

To join SHC, you need only complete the enclosed Membership Application Form and send it and your first year's dues to the address indicated below. We hope you will decide to come together with us and join in our efforts to preserve and restore the proud culture and heritage of our glorious Southland! God Save the South!

Please return this form with your first year's family dues of $20.00 to register as official SHC members. Southern Heritage of the Carolinas can thrive only with the active participation of it's members, so we need you to become involved in our activities and events scheduled throughout the year. Only with your help can we reverse the current destruction of our culture, traditions, and heritage.
