| Gimingham The Village |
| The Village is mentioned in the Doomsday Book of about 1085 as GIMINGEHAM. In 1211 it appears as GEMINGEHEM; In 1192 as GUMINGEHAM. It is thought to mean the 'Ham' or 'Homestead' of GYMMA'S people. Gymma was probably the personal name of the Anglo-Saxon leader who came to Britain during the 5th or 6th Century A.D. The population of Gimingham is now approximately 430. |
