Drakkin Empire of Enzan Shi Ten'oio's Attempt "What do you mean you can't find Runyar?" The vampire-lady demanded, glaring daggers at Helevorn. "Kayun, Nondar and Sanye are still out searching." The wolf-shifter growled. "Yaavun is sleeping after searching all day." "How can you not find him? He's got himself a drakkin now and you can't even manage to find him?" Ten'oio snapped, her eyes flashing. "Milady, we have tried everything we can think of..." Helevorn began. "And obviously you can't think of much." She cut him off, standing, "I am coming to Rileikoul." "Milady, there is no need-" "Oh, but there is, Helevorn. Your incompetence at tracking down my brother is more than enough reason to go to the drow city. Besides, Serau-ra has clutched and I shall try for one of her children." With that, she closed the portal and went to her private rooms. She gathered her things and thought to herself, What do you give to a drakkin owner who does not have any particular, obvious, wantings? She growled to herself and threw her clothes into a bag. When she re-formed the portal, Kayun was waiting for her. "I was informed of your coming, milady." He said simply at her upraised eyebrow, "I also thought it would be helpful if I told you about Tytula, though you shall have to go through Dwahro anyways." She nodded slightly and dropped her bag on the clean wooden floor. Obviously Sanye had been doing the housework, as the men- She stopped her thought when she saw Nondar sweeping in the kitchen. She knew a small smirk had appeared on her face by Kayun's chortle. "Nondar has become our good little housewife, due to his lack of drakkin." The other vampire explained. "I'll get one as soon as Tolethven has his next clutch up for buying." The other vampire called, "Besides, if I didn't clean nobody else would." "True." Ten'oio agreed. "Now, tell me about this Tytula." "Well, she's not like the rest of us trainers. Mind you, the 'rest of us' are mostly men, which may explain it. She is actually somewhat compassionate and, rumour has it, she thanked Dwahro profusely after being given her first drakkin - Peturmiles. Inrahi gave her an albino, however, as Inrahi obviously disliked her. Then, Tolethven gave her one of the blue female twins." Kayun said briefly. "Yes, I know that, but what would she want as an offering?" Ten'oio growled. "I... truely don't know. Seeing as she's a drakkin trainer, it might be best to give her something... reusable?" Kayun offered. "Meaning?" The elder vampire snapped, getting irritated. "A mixture of gold - which she could use if she applies to Dwahro - cloth - Inrahi - and trinkets - Tolethven." He explained. "No, no trinkets for her. We keep our trinkets." Ten'oio muttered, unaware of how crazy she sounded then. "But gold and cloth we can - and will - give her." She then proceeded to grab two of the offering bags she had first given them - one for each of the two breeders - and pool them together. Kayun looked doubtfully at the large mound. "You're giving her all that?" "It looks like a lot more than it really is." Ten'oio replied. On the table in front of her was: Three rolls of maroon leather/hide Three rolls of black leather Fifteen gold bars Five black opal pendants Ten silver chains [on which to place above pendants] of varying length Three black opal rings "Think she'll accept that?" Kayun asked, looking doubtfully at it. "I'll bring a little bit more, just in case." Ten'oio told him before putting the offering back in a single bag. She headed to Dwahro's breeding barn, where she knew Tytula would be. It was as such: all visiting mothers would be Dwahro's guests. Dwahro would also get some of the drakkin from the clutch. She knocked at the door, keeping her head raised in the darkness of the city. Tytula opened the door and saw her standing there. Bowing her head graciously, Ten'oio smiled, "My name is Ten'oio, I come to bargain for a drakkinling." She said simply. "Oh, yes, come in please." Tytula said eagerly, inviting her in. Seeing the drakkin mother crouched protectively over her eggs, Ten'oio knew what to do. Helevorn, Yaaven and Kayun had reported back with instructions, after all. So she went up to the blue mother and crouched to look her in the eyes. The drakkin growled slightly, yet Ten'oio looked evenly back. "I can take you." The vampire murmured, "I can raise any of your offspring to greatness, you know that. Have I not raised other vampires and shifters to be great drakkin handlers?" Serau-ra snorted and stood up, revealing the eight eggs beneath her. Tytula would get two, obviously, as would Dwahro. So that left four for the bargaining. Smiling smugly, Ten'oio stood and turned to Dwahro, who had been standing in the shadows. "Care to see my offer?" She asked. He nodded and Ten'oio spread it out on the table, showing him the cloth and riches. She watched the drow's face intently. She knew he was in charge of accepting buyers, not Tytula, but the girl was there nevertheless. Dwahro nodded slowly, a small smile appearing on his face. "Yes, this will do. We accept your offer, Lady Ten'oio." He said courteously. She smiled in kind, inclining her head in respect. "I trust you shall inform me when the event is near?" She asked, though she already knew the answer. "Indeed." He answered, accompanying her to the door. She swept out onto the street, managing to keep her good mood until she saw a stranger with a drakkin. A cub, at that. They must have gotten that cub from the last batch, Inrahi's. That meant that theirs was sibling to Runyar's. She hissed irritably and walked back to their run-down manor of a home. Only Nondar was there. This irritated her even more. The most incompetent of her people was the only one left. "Where are the others?" She demanded, glaring as the vampire had the nerve to sweep the floors while she was there. "Out searching for Runyar, as you ordered them." He answered, not stopping his sweeping. "I told you to search as well." She pointed out. "But Kayun told me to stay and guard the house. We never leave it completely empty, you realize, what with all the riches hidden beneath its extremely dusty floorboards." He said evenly, looking at her. "So you feel poetic today?" She snapped. He grinned slightly, "A little. Dwahro and Tytula accepted your offer, I presume, so why are you still in such a foul mood?" "Runyar." She growled. "If his presence in Rileikoul irritates you so, why don't you-" He began. "I will not leave!" She interrupted. "I was not going to suggest that." He responded, "I was going to suggest that you go out looking for him as well." She glared at him and swept out of the house, slamming the door on his soft chuckle. Ten'oio looked down the streets of the city, wondering where he would have gone. If I was hiding from my influential, vampiric, elder, where would I hide? She thought to herself. She smirked suddenly. Somewhere said influential, vampiric, elder would never go. The edge of town perhaps? So she wandered about the city, visiting the dingiest places she could find, though there was no sign of her brother anywhere. She returned home after several hours' search empty handed, as did the others. "They may have magicked it, no?" Yaaven asked. "Nonsense, we'd sense it." Nondar snapped. "Then where could they be? We've searched the entire city!" Helevorn growled in frustration. Kayun was watching with amusement over his cup of rat blood mixed with wine. Sanye was determinedly not taking part in the argument, busying herself with preparing a supper of blood - for the vampires - and raw meat - for the others. Kayun followed her into the kitchen after finishing his drink. "Keep thy friends close and thy enemies closer." He whispered in her ear, making her giggle slightly. "If only our dear Lady knew." She murmured in his, making him chuckle. "I never knew Nondar could be such a good actor." He mused quietly. Sanye looked at Ten'oio, who was glaring at said vampire who had started dusting. "He's finally showing who he really is." She told him softly. "An undead, photosensitive housewife with an obsessive compulsive disorder to clean?" He joked. She elbowed him in the stomach and he mock-gasped, stumbling back into the dining room. She grinned at him and Kayun rolled his eyes before turning to look at Ten'oio, "Maybe he's left the city, gone to live in the wild nearby." He offered. "No, it's not in his character." Yaaven said instantly. "But he's not alone. For all we know, he might not even be the leader of his little band." Kayun pointed out. "Who would lead them, then? Dagor?" Helevorn asked scornfully. Kayun shrugged. "Just a suggestion." He growled, sitting back at his spot as Sanye served them supper. Ten'oio looked evenly at Kayun. He had a point, but she felt he was hiding something. Something very important. Something that Sanye knew, as well. She knew they were close friends and they had been chortling together in the kitchen earlier. He would tell her, though. Once she, too, had a drakkin, she would turn and start weedling the truth out of him. Now, however, she had other things to ponder over. Like how she would torture him until he spoke. She smiled cruelly. She had not had the pleasure of torturing someone since they had left their homeworld. And she missed it. Besides, torturing immortals was much more fun. After all, they just kept screaming and did not die until they were staked or stabbed with silver. main :: members :: drakkin :: stories |
