| Plot: A Free thinking art professor teaches conservative 50's Wellesley girls to question their societal roles. Cast: Katherine Watson - Julia Roberts Kirsten Dunst - Betty Warren Julia Stiles - Joan Broadwyn Maggie Gyllenhaal - Giselle Levin Dominic West - Bill Dunbar Laura Allen - Susan Delacorte Review: Alright to be honest when I picked this up yesterday I wasn't sure if I would like or not. I mean I had avoided seeing it for awhile because in all honesty im not a chick flick girl. Usually when I see a movie its a horror film or something similar. Last night however I found out that a chick flick or two every now and then isn't a bad thing. The movie starts out by showing us school life, Miss Watson(Roberts) moving in, etc. What I really liked about the movie is how good the character development is...you really get to know them. Well.....not all of them I can't say they really let Susan's(Laura's) character develop as she only gets about 5 minutes of screentime tops. Still her character is interesting...she sort of came off to me as sort of a teachers pet. What I didn't understand is that Susan is supposed to Bettys(Dunst) best friend yet there is little or no dialogue between the two. Really all they do is sit beside each other in class. I felt like Betty and Joan(Stiles) had more of a relationship. Either way I still liked this movie alot....and im not just saying that because im a Laura Allen fan either. The movie while we don't see alot of Laura is still good and worth a watch by all girls! Overall: I'd give it an 8/10. Side note: If you'll remember during the wedding scene the song Mona Lisa is playing while everyone is dancing. Well if you watch episode 2 of the first season of The 4400 Lily and Richard dance to that song....Lily jokingly calls it an Oldie Goldie. :) |
