We are a mother
and daughter team who acquired our first Doberman in 1979.
Sabriana was a registered black & rust female, von Ahrtal lines.
Sabriana had a lovely headpiece and a true Doberman temperament,
but couldn’t quite attain her championship ending her conformation
career with 5 points and many reserves.
Next we
turned to obedience and Scent Hurdle races with Sabriana.
Successful at both racing and obedience, Sabriana added a CDX to
her name.
At this
point we decided to look for a show puppy. Researching pedigree’s
as well as observing the Dobermans at shows we decided on one
sired by the great "THUNDER" AM.CAN.CH. Starstorm Thunderbolt CD.
Thunder lived on a dairy farm just outside of Saskatoon with
George & Marlene Tremblay we could see many Champions sired by
him. Thunder won our hearts, he moved effortlessly covering ground
as he floated in motion.
On June
2,1980 our new puppy was born. We met breeders Dr. Bryan & Gerri
Wurtz at the September Saskatoon shows they had two show females
one black and one red. Back then all I saw was black and so she
became ours CH. Wurdobes Terror CD. Cec Ringstrom (STARSTORM)
handled Terra to many Breed and Group wins becoming a dear friend
and mentor.
Not sure we
wanted to become breeders we leased Terra back to her breeders at
four years old, although we wanted to whelp the litter. August 2,
1984 SHAY, CAN.CH. Wurdobes Shooting Star CD was born. Shay was
red & rust although I tried to push the Big black boy the three
breeders grading the litter kept asking to see the RED bitch. Now
Wendy Maisey and Rick Fehler I could understand as they liked red,
but Cec could be quoted as saying those ones (RED) are not done
yet! At this point she was no longer color blind stating we are
crazy if we didn’t keep her and if we don’t could she buy her!
Shay won many puppy awards, Breeds, Groups,2 High in class in
novice obedience, BIS and a Best in Specialty Show all
owner/handled by Tracy.
Traveling 5
hours to Cec Ringstrom’s house numerous weekends learning how to
grade puppies, Tracy was like a sponge soaking up as much
knowledge as possible about breeding, puppies, cropping, handling
and of course Cec’s DOBERMAN QUARTERLY collection! We purchased
two more from Cec over the years CH.Starstorm Shayera Status Quo
and CH. Starstorm Gucci on Rodeo they produced the 1994 DPCA TOP
20 WINNER
AM/CAN. CH.
Shayera Annie Oakley WAC and
her littermate our top producing sire AM.CAN.CH. Shayera Jesse
James.
Thus "
SHAYERA " Shay and Terra came about. Breeding since 1988, we have
had 13 litters totaling 52 puppies :

have been spayed or neutered
- We bred
the DPCA #4 Doberman for 2000 & 2001
- We bred
the 1994 DPCA Top 20 Winner

USA

Surfin USA was the #5 Doberman in Canada for 2001 in just 6
weekends of showing.
