Who is God's only Son? Jesus the Christ (John 6:69)! What does "Christ" mean? Christ means Savior, the term given to the Jew's coming Saviour.
I believe that Jesus came to earth through the virgin Mary (Matthew 1:18-25) and lived a sinless life (John 1:29, the term "Lamb" was a symbol of the sacrifical lamb used in the Old Testament as the payment for sin, it had to have NO BLEMISHES! Also see Hebrews 4:15). I also believe that Jesus died on the cross, and was Raised from the dead on the third day! (John 20:1-10)
I believe that Jesus died on the cross so that WE might be forgiven of our sin (sin is the term used for breaking God's perfect law: lying, stealing, coveting, envy, etc.). How can this be? (Romans 3:24-25, 8:3-4) Jesus paid the penalty for our sin, which is death, for us. Is everyone "saved" already? Jesus paid our "debt" to God, now all we must do is, accept that gift!
How can we accept that gift? Easy, all we got to do is tell God we are sorry for our sin (we have ALL sinned, no one is without it, except for Jesus. Read Romans 3:9-20) and that we accept and believe that Jesus payed the penalty for our sin. Romans 10:9 says "If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, YOU WILL BE SAVED." This may be hard for you to believe or to accept, but all you have to do is ASK God to give you the faith to believe. Since salvation is a FREE gift, we cannot earn it by anything we do of ourselves. Thus, we need GOD'S HELP to even accept it! Ephesians 2:8 says "For by grace (the power and desire to do God's will) you have been saved through faith, and NOT of yourselves, IT IS A GIFT OF GOD..." So, ask God to give you the FAITH to believe! IT IS THAT SIMPLE!
Why must we accept God's FREE gift? If we do not accept God's free gift and do not ask for His forgivness of our sins we will remain apart from God. We will have NO fellowship with Him! Not only in this lifetime, but after we die, we will be separated from God FOREVER! Revelation 20:15 says "Anyone who is not found written in the Book of Life was (this is what will happen) cast into the lake of fire." God loves us, but if we reject Him and live with sin in our lives we will alienate ourselves from God, and God is the absence of ALL evil. Just as light CANNOT "dwell" with darkness, so God cannot "dwell" with evil.
Now, it is up to you, What will YOU do with the FREE gift that God offers? If you accept His gift, then you ARE saved, if you reject or do not make a decision, then you are NOT saved. I will encourage you TODAY, accept God's Free Gift, because we are NOT Guaranteed another minute on this earth. Don't wait! Remember, GOD LOVES YOU!
